Hey
there,
Hope this post find you in the pink of health. Well, without wasting much time let's get to the actual content.
A professor was addressing a gathering of young and middle aged audience. He made some arrangements to hand over a glass jar, few rocks, little sand, some pebbles and water to all the members in the auditorium. When the distribution of the above said things was over, the professor then asked them to fit in all the contents i.e sand, rocks, pebbles and water in to the jar given to them. But the jar was not big enough to accommodate all of those.
Someone filled it up with sand and rocks and it was already full. Each person was trying and trying harder in different ways to complete the task but no body was successful.
The professor then went on to demonstrate this. At first he put in all the rocks in to the jar. It was 2/3rd full already. He then poured little pebbles in to the jar and shook the jar. The little pebbles settled in the empty spaces between the rocks and the jar remained almost 2/3rd full without much difference. After that he poured the sand in to the jar and shook it once again. The jar could accommodate it up to the brim. The professor then poured water in to the jar and all the things settled with in the jar perfectly well.
The professor then went on to explain that the jar could be compared to our life and each day in our life. We have got to do multiple tasks each day but most of us cant successfully multi task or complete all the tasks successfully. We need a knack to do it. The rocks could be compared to the most important tasks of life like being with the family, performing one's duties and responsibilities. This must go in to the jar first. Then come the little pebbles that refer to our career and growth. Then the sand referring to smaller and less urgent tasks, followed by the water of little things to fill up the jar and adjust all other things.
Time is precious. I feel pity for those who waste it on prolonged useless gossip and negative small talk. Millions of people out there are struggling to make their ends meet, to make food for a time in a day. In some places the innocent are getting killed. Yet somewhere else some war is going on killing even the new born. Crime, corruption and many issues go on but some are busy with silly issues and matters. They don't realize the value of time or life. They are not in the least aware or grateful about the privileges they have in life. All that they know is stupid attitude and grudges over things that matter not in the least. I can only suggest that it is high time we realize the value of our time, the importance of delivering one's duties and responsibilities. Even Lord Krishna and all other scriptures of all other religions talk about delivering one's duty without expecting anything in return. Alas at least a few would understand what I am trying to say. Of course you need to talk, gossip, entertain yourself and others, and enjoy as well but not forgetting to put the rocks first in to the jar. Other wise you cant fit in all the things in to the jar.
Always prioritize your tasks. Be cheerful. Spread hope and wisdom like a flower that spreads fragrance. Give up mean talk, mean attitude and mean behavior that smells like rotten egg, spoiling the environment.
After al it is your time and your life, the more you waste your time on useless things, the lesser the time you have for important things. A minute lost can never be gained.
To know the importance of a year, ask a student who failed. To know the value of a month, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby. To know the value of a day, ask a student who has an exam tomorrow. To know the value of a minute, ask the guy who just missed his train. Time is money.
The world and life is beautiful. Learn to enjoy it. And remember: people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, people will forget your achievements and greatness but people will never forget how you made them feel. Be someone who makes others feel good. Be aware of your duties and be happy.
