Ready to win?

Who Won? Hey there,  It has been a very long time since I posted here. Well, I am happy to resume blogging and here I am with a quick short story. There was a farmer who had 4 sons. All the 4 sons were very dear to him but they all differed from each other in attitude, behavior and mannerisms. When this farmer got very old, sick and bed ridden he had thoughts on how he could wisely choose a successor for his family. After a lot of thought process he came to a conclusion. He called all the four sons to him and handed over a few grains to each of them and said "My dears! This is probably the last responsibility that I am handing over to you. Just take care of these grains". He then asked all of them to return after 6 months. All the four son's collected  their grains and went back to their respective places. The first son was bored during the journey back home and he just gulped those raw grains in to his mouth without any thought or regret. The second one happened to cook ...

Practice before you preach...

Do you do as you say? There was a little boy named Krish. Krish was a very innocent, sweet and cute. He had a heart that was pure, unpolluted and uncontaminated. One day Krish saw his mother addressing her friends (neighboring women)  on the sacred Ramayan. She extolled the truthfulness of the Lord and king Ram and concluded that truth could never be hidden for long, that we should always speak truth no matter what the situation is and irrespective of the consequences, and that truth alone always wins. Krish heard all of the talk. The ladies had a good feast and then after all the ladies dispersed a beggar appeared at their door and this lady who was lecturing on truth now screamed at the beggar saying that she hasn't cooked anything yet and yelled at the beggar to get lost from there. Hearing this Krish was a bit confused and disturbed as there was lot of food in the home. He couldn't understand why his mother told the beggar that she hasn't cooked anything. ...

Look before you Leap...

Hey there, Lets talk about Information. Many a times we are not the first hand recipients of information. We receive information from someone or through the Internet or the media. Some of us are wise enough to ponder over the details received from any third or fourth party sources but most of us blindly believe in what comes around from Mr.XYZ and everyone around. A wise one would use his/her intellect and wisdom to ponder over that information and decide whether to trust and take it in or throw it out. That is what makes us different from animals. The power of thinking and intellect. To illustrate this, lets remind ourselves of this famous story of a fox. There was once a fox in a jungle. One day the fox accidentally slipped in to a deep well and was unable to get out of there. So it came up with an idea. As soon as it heard a sheep bleat, it started exclaiming very loud  "wow. This water is so tasty!".  Hearing this the sheep went close to the well and asked...

Take time!

There was a wood cutter named "John". He was very strong and fit. He went to a timber depot and asked for a job. The timber merchant was impressed with this man's strength and he offered him the job. As the pay and working conditions were good, John accepted the offer and joined the next day. On day one John was very excited. He wanted to impress his boss, the merchant. The merchant gave him an Axe and showed him the area where he needed to work. John, in all his enthusiasm to impress the boss, worked very hard that day and brought trunks of 18 trees. The merchant was really impressed and he appreciated John. John was very happy. He wanted to continue working harder. The next day despite his hard work, he struggled but could bring down only 15 trees. The day after too he worked hard but could bring down only 10 trees. So when John returned to the timber depot on the next day, the merchant asked him what the problem was. John said "Sir, I am strugg...

Never give Up!

A marine biologist was once conducting an experiment. She was working with a shark in a water tank. In the first instance she dropped a bait in to the tank and as we all can guess the shark swam very fast and gulped down the bait. This happened a few times when the biologist inserted a glass barrier to divide the fish tank in to two parts. When the bait was released in to the tank this time, unaware of the opaque glass barrier, the shark swam towards the bait in high speed, hit the glass barrier and bounced off. It was hurt. But the shark continued to try to attack and break in to the barrier to gulp the bait. It happened a few times. Every time the shark was getting more and more aggressive. And after several attempts the shark gave up. The bait was happily swimming around in the second partition of the tank. The next day too same thing was repeated. The shark tried several times and finally gave up. After some days the glass barrier was removed but the shark was no longer trying. I...

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction!

Hi, Today I have this story running in my mind that I wanted to share with all of you. There was once a poor farmer. All that he had was a little piece of land and a buffalo. He used to make his living by cultivating that small piece of land. He used to struggle day and night to sow the seeds, water them regularly, pull out the weeds, and struggle a lot to make the crop grow successfully. Until he reaped the crop, he used to live on a piece of bread that he would receive from a baker in return to one pound of butter that the farmer used to sell to the baker. This continued for quite sometime when the baker wasn't sure that he was indeed receiving exactly 1 pound of butter from the farmer. So he weighed the butter he took from the farmer. He noticed that the butter weighed 20% less than 1 pound. The baker was then very angry about this and he took the farmer to a court. In the court the judge questioned the farmer about the cheating he has done to the baker. To this the fa...

Quotable quotes by Chanakya

Some awesome quotes for a lifetime! Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth.  Never make friends with people who are above or below you in status. Such friendships will never give you any happiness. Do not reveal what you have thought upon doing, but by wise council keep it secret being determined to carry it into execution. Once you start a working on something, don't be afraid of failure and don't abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest. A man is great by deeds, not by birth. As soon as the fear approaches near, attack and destroy it. One whose knowledge is confined to books and whose wealth is in the possession of others, can use neither his knowledge nor wealth when the need for them arises. A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and honest people are screwed first.
